Senator Debbie Stabenow on Senator Mitch McConnell Blocking $2,000 Stimulus Checks

Tuesday, December 29, 2020

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow released the following statement after Senator McConnell blocked an effort to pass $2,000 stimulus checks for the American people. Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bipartisan bill to increase the amount of money in a second round of direct payments to $2,000.

“Michigan families are hurting and need a survival check to help put food on the table, keep a roof over their heads, and pay the heating bill. Democrats and Republicans in the House came together to pass $2,000 stimulus checks for the American people, but Senator McConnell just blocked the bill. Our families are in desperate need of help and Senate Republicans are standing in the way.”
