Update on Washington D.C. Flags and Visits

Thursday, March 12, 2020

As we work together to keep our communities and loved ones safe, we wanted to provide the following updates on flags and visits to Washington D.C.

For all other Coronavirus information please visit our resources and prevention page.

Flag requests:

Due to intermittent office closures in and around the U.S. Capitol as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, the processing of flag requests may be delayed.  For time sensitive requests, please call (202) 224-4822.

Tours and visitors:

Following recommendations from public health officials and the Congress’ Office of Attending Physician, the Sergeants at Arms of the House of Representatives and Senate have issued a temporary closure for tours of the U.S. Capitol and U.S. Capitol Visitor Center.  This temporary closure will begin at 5:00 pm on March 12, 2020 and end at 8:00 am on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

Tours have also been suspended for the U.S. Supreme Court, the White House, and the FBI.  In addition, access to the Capitol, House and Senate Office Buildings will be limited.  Unfortunately, reservations for tours of these places will not be honored during this time.
