GRAND RAPIDS, MI – U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Gary Peters (MI) today announced that Gerald R. Ford International Airport will receive a $5 million federal grant and West Michigan Regional Airport will receive a $3 million federal grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP).

Gerald R. Ford International Airport’s grant will go to rehabilitate a terminal building and West Michigan Regional’s grant will go toward rehabilitating a runway.

“Michigan’s airports are important to economic development and tourism across our state. This investment will both improve passenger safety and make sure our airports are running efficiently,” said Senator Stabenow.

“Safe and reliable air travel in West Michigan will help connect residents to business and travel opportunities across the country and the globe,” said Senator Peters. “I’m pleased to announce this grant, which will make key airport infrastructure upgrades in Grand Rapids and Holland.”

On March 23, 2018, H.R. 1625, the Consolidated Appropriations Act became law, which provided the AIP an additional $1 billion in discretionary grants. More information about FAA AIP grants can be found at https://www.faa.gov/airports/aip/.
