Support for Two New Genesee Community Health Centers Announced
U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow today made the following statement after U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that Genesee Community Mental Health will receive support to create two new community health center locations in Genesee County.
"Hundreds of thousands of Michigan families are able to see a family doctor and receive basic medical services through 32 community health centers across the state. Without these health centers, many patients would go without care or be forced to turn to the emergency room, which is a much greater cost for communities. These new centers are especially important in difficult economic times, and will help families in Genesee County have access to the quality care they need."
Senator Stabenow had led the effort to boost support for Community Health Centers, which has resulted in the creation of 16 new centers across Michigan since 2001.
